LOCATION

Lapta is a large spread out village which is traditional and unspoilt. Lapta, used to be called Lapethos. Excavations in the area have revealed a Chalcolithic settlement, which is thought to have utilised the local copper deposits,and Iron Age chamber tombs.The present day settlement is one of the most fertile villages on the island, owing this to its abundance of water gushing from Baspinar springs 280 metres above sea level. The rushing sound of water, which has been the most precious commodity on the dry island, can be heard all over the area. The village is famous for its extensive lemon and orange groves. There are both sandy beaches within 10 minutes drive and mountain or hill walks immediately outside your door. Lapta offers a wealth of restaurants from traditional cuisine serving fresh seafood or select expensive restaurants serving international cuisine. There are an abundance of hotels near to this area and Lapta is a historic village and boasts a monastery, mosque, local speciality shops and even includes a traditional fish and chip shop! Lapta has proved to be a popular area for foreign investment.
